Metalage

Akademie Gallerie Munich 2017

MÉTALAGE is a reactive environment of sculpture, sound & light. The viewers themselves become actors, first stepping into the dazzlingly bright spotlight of a built-in shop window, only to pass through it into a completely darkened room. Its only source of light comes from a projected sculptural body. This can be used both as furniture and as a musical instrument.

By stroking and tapping these bodies, electronically generated sounds are produced live by means of piezzo microphones and a resonator in Max & Ableton and transmitted into the room via a 6.1 sound system as a spherical sound carpet with rhythmic elements. In addition, by touching the sculptural bodies, the light projected onto the viewers/performers flickers between light and dark.
